Keiko Tanabe : watercolor painter/instructor. An award-winning watercolorist, Keiko Tanabe has been professionally painting and exhibiting since 2005, working exclusively in watercolor.

Her work appears in private and corporate collections throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, and in permanent collections at fine art museums in China and Brazil.  Her work was also featured in numerous publications, most notably in American Artist/Watercolor and Watercolor Artist magazines.

Keiko is also a popular workshop instructor, teaching watercolor painting classes both in the U.S. and abroad.

Her current portfolio includes cityscapes and landscapes of California, Europe and Japan.  Regardless the subject, her main focus is to capture the atmosphere that is intrinsic to the time and place.  She is often inspired by scenes that tell stories of everyday life, and she hopes that the viewer feels some kind of connection to her paintings.

Keiko was born in Kyoto, Japan.  Though she always enjoyed drawing and painting as a child, it was not the focus of her first career.  A Master of Arts in international education at the University of California, Los Angeles led to work in international relations in Tokyo, San Francisco and San Diego before she became a full-time artist.  She currently lives in San Diego, California, U.S.A.
